Specialist housing communications agency wins its first PRCA Dare Award

Housing communications agency, See Media, has won its first Midlands Public Relations Communications Association (PRCA) DARE Award.

Winning the not-for-profit campaign award alongside its client and leading housing provider Stonewater, the announcement marks a year since the agency relocated its head office to the Midlands.

Stonewater appointed See Media to lead on its PR activity in 2019 and the agency has since been working with the housing association to establish its position as a thought leader and develop non-traditional PR campaigns.

This included the successful creation and launch of Stonewater’s first podcast series, On the Air, which supported the housing provider in developing relationships with key stakeholders; pushing key policy ‘asks’; and engaging its staff and customers in sector-wide debates.

Stuart Macdonald, managing director at See Media, said: “Podcasts produced by housing associations remain rare, which gave our team the opportunity to be creative in their approach, paving the way for future series.

“The podcast was so successful in supporting Stonewater to fulfil its objectives that we have since created an internal series for the organisation, preparing colleagues for the remobilisation of the business.

“The coronavirus crisis has emphasised the importance of organisations, not just housing providers, in finding the right ways to communicate with their target audiences and I’m pleased that we’ve been able to support our client through this difficult time using podcasts.”

In addition to the creation of Stonewater’s podcast, See Media also recently supported the Illegal Money Lending Team – also based in Birmingham – with the production of a five-episode podcast series called Your Money and Your Life. The series aims to raise awareness about loan sharks and help victims caught in their trap.
