Background

See Media began working with the ExtraCare Charitable Trust in 2015, but the charity has been providing ‘better lives for older people’ for the last three decades. Its unique model, incorporating homes, lifestyle and care, benefits 4,500 residents as well as up to 5,000 local people who live close to its 19 mixed-tenure developments across the country.

The Challenge

To help ExtraCare communicate the message of a positive old age, focusing on its development of retirement villages that enable older people to lead active, exciting lives, and where care and support will be available if and when needed.

What did we do?

We supported ExtraCare to develop its key messages, and then focussed on identifying opportunities to deliver them to their target audiences.

Results

We used the Communities and Local Government Committee’s inquiry into Older People’s Housing, as a hook for pitching a feature to Inside Housing, which would outline the way in which ExtraCare delivers the kind of homes older people actually want to downsize to. The resulting four-page feature covered the charity’s work in great detail.
