Housing Solutions manages more than 7,500 properties across Berkshire and Hampshire. The housing provider offers a wide range of housing options, including affordable homes to rent, properties to buy under shared ownership, market rent properties and specialist accommodation for older people and people who need care and support to live within the community.

The Challenge

Gathering data from the past year is one thing but presenting it in an engaging way can be difficult. When producing its 2020 annual report, for residents, Housing Solutions was conscious that what they already had in place was too text-heavy and didn’t effectively tell residents what was important to know about the previous year.

Housing Solutions needed a Residents’ report that was not only visually appealing and easy to navigate but, humanised the work that had been carried out over the last 12 months and demonstrated the impact. Having previously seen the work we’ve done for some of our other clients, Housing Solutions approached us with a tight deadline to come up with a complete refresh.

What did we do?

We kickstarted the project by identifying the key principles of the customer’s journey when reading the report. To make the report fit for purpose, we prioritised what information was important to Housing Solutions’ residents and then split these topics into distinct sections throughout the report. 

 

Our specialist copywriter, with years of experience writing annual reports, worked alongside our graphic design associate to restructure the report and ensure every aspect of the document, whether it was text or an infographic, was compelling. Our aim was to ensure that every page told its own story.

Results

While still staying within the company brand guidelines, we were able to provide Housing Solutions’ residents with a report that was creative, easy to digest and insightful. Launched on its website in January 2021, the new report has been well received, in fact, we are already working on another publication project for Housing Solutions.
